If you are connecting both experimental and control ports to your switch, the role should be ‘testswitch.’ This will be the most common setting for small sites. If you are using dedicated control network switches and separate experimental switches, the control network switches should be set to ‘ctrlswitch’ and the experimental switches should be set to ‘testswitch’. If you are unsure what all this is about, please reread the [wiki:Hardware Network Switches section of the Hardware page].
